After nine years of horn-powered musical indignities, The Blow Kings are abandoning our throne. And we are doing so by throwing a really good party! Please join us at Ortega Park on June 16th for an afternoon of music, humor, magic, food, friends, prizes, and nostalgia.

The day begins with lunch at a reserved picnic area. Bring your own food and drink, and we'll supply barbecue coals and tools for those who want to cook. While you eat you'll enjoy the fabulous illusions of Bay Area magician (and our friend) Brian Scott. The music kicks off under a shady gazebo at 1pm with some more friends of ours, the funny and talented a cappella group O-Face!, who like us are giving their farewell performance. Then you'll get a hearty dose of The Blow Kings, bringing you a show full of surprises and special guests.

Your kids already love The Blow Kings, and at Ortega Park they will also love the big playground. Adults will love the fact that the park allows alcohol, so you can enjoy a beer or three while being entertained. Check out some Blow Kings historical artifacts, have a friend take your picture as the Cat With Two Heads, and go home with a free copy of Royal Flush, the new CD just recorded by The Blow Kings for the occasion of this Abdication Party!

That's right, we want to show our appreciation to you, our fans, by offering you the CD as a gift at the Abdication Party. We will not sell Royal Flush on our website, in any stores, or have it played on the radio, so it is destined to be a collector's item. We've really twisted some well-known songs on this one, so don't miss out. You must RSVP to the Abdication Party (below, or on our website) to get a copy, 'cause we're only burning as many as we need.

O-Face!

The 4 members of O-Face! come from a variety of non-musical backgrounds: a lawyer, a photographer, a packaging designer and a database geek. What they lack in formal training they make up for in unbridled enthusiasm. Caution: fans in the first 5 rows may get drenched in unbridled enthusiasm, and everyone runs the risk of getting at least a little joi de vivre on them (don't say we didn't warn you). Remember, while other a cappella groups may smear cosmetics on helpless bunnies, O-Face! does not test its finished product on animals.

Brian Scott

For over 16 years Brian Scott has been performing his unique brand of magic for groups all across the country. One newspaper probably said it best when they described him as the following – “Mix one part showman, one part Elvis impersonation, two parts goof, the hands of David Copperfield, and the facial expressions of Jim Carrey, say the magic words…and POOF! What you get is Brian Scott.” Brian Scott’s interactive shows are a blend of comedy and magic that will leave everyone entertained as they watch the impossible happen – from items appearing out of thin air to minds being read with ease, pictures coming to life, and so much more. You’ll enjoy fooling your senses as you watch the crazy antics of Brian Scott.

If you can't make it to the Abdication Party, fear not. You have one other opportunity to see The Blow Kings perform live before our reign ends. We play the San Rafael Farmers Market this Thursday, May 24th from 6:00-8:30pm.
